His Excellency Ambassador Edward Y. Sawerengera, is happy to invite you to the first Malawi – Canada virtual Diaspora Conference, under the theme “Harnessing the role of Malawi Diaspora in Canada for Innovation and Development”. The conference will be held on May 15th, 2021 and will bring together Malawians and all people with connections to Malawi living in Canada. It is an exciting moment to meet and network with fellow Malawians and people interested in the mother nation Malawi.
The Conference has been organized by the Malawi Embassy to the USA in liaison with leaders of the Diaspora Organizations in Canada. Speakers include, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, who will deliver the keynote speech. Other speakers include high level government officials, private sector leaders and professionals from different fields.
The conference seeks to initiate a long-term partnership between the Malawi government and the Malawi Canadian Diaspora, to engage them in contributing to the success of economic development in Malawi through long term projects. Some specific priority areas include, expanding economic base and access to finance, health, education, technology and tourism among others to be achieved over a period of 5-7 years.
