His Excellency Ambassador Edward Y. Sawerengera, is happy to invite you to the first Malawi – Canada virtual Diaspora Conference, under the theme “Harnessing the role of Malawi Diaspora in Canada for Innovation and Development”. The conference will be held on May 15th, 2021 and will bring together Malawians and all people with connections to Malawi living in Canada. It is an exciting moment to meet and network with fellow Malawians and people interested in the mother nation Malawi.

Spend an hour learning about the Warm Heart of Africa, Malawi, from our first and only Honorary Consul in the United States, Wimberley resident Jordan Price. Known to the famous explorer, “Dr. Livingstone, I presume,” and more recently Madonna, Prince Harry, Rihanna, and Roger Federer, Malawi follows the dramatic contours of the Great Rift Valley with enormous mountains and giant 2,300’ deep and 360 miles long lake. Jordan will spend an hour sharing stories about his experiences in Malawi, living in a tent surrounded by elephants, and his Honorary Consul responsibilities.

The Embassy of the Republic of Malawi to the United States of America in Washington, D.C., wishes to inform all Malawians in the USA, Canada and friends of Malawi that His Excellency the President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, declared a State of National Disaster on January 12th, 2021 due to the exponential increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Malawi. As you may know, between January 1st and January 22nd 2021, the number of people confirmed to be newly infected has exceeded 10,692, pushing the total confirmed cases beyond 17,365.

The Embassy of the Republic of Malawi to the United States of America will be closed for business this holiday season from Monday, December 21st, 2020 to Friday, January 01st, 2020.
