Age Africa 2018 Tri for Malawi

In 2009, the Tri for Malawi was created to honor the scholars’ efforts and benefit AGE Africa’s scholarship fund.

Now in its 10th year as AGE Africa’s largest annual fundraising event, the 2018 Tri for Malawi will take place will take place on Sunday, September 9th, 2018 as part of the Nation’s ESCAPE Triathlon in Washington, DC. Known to the famous explorer, “Dr. Livingstone, I presume,” and more recently Madonna, Prince Harry, Rihanna, and Roger Federer, Malawi follows the dramatic contours of the Great Rift Valley with enormous mountains and giant 2,300’ deep and 360 miles long lake. The Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in Washington, DC participated in the 6th Annual Winternational Embassy Showcase for the first time on 6th December, 2017 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. This important program is uniquely created for embassies to advance their public diplomacy (cultural, tourism, and trade) initiative. Over 3,000 guests showed up and 38 embassies exhibited and sold examples of their handcrafts, shared information on travel and tourism in their countries or presented educational displays of current mission initiatives.

Ambassador Sawerengera will be accompanied by Diplomats at the Malawi Mission in Washington DC and other Malawians to take part in the Capitol Hill Run on May 20th, 2018. AGE Africa organised the run to raise USD50, 000.00 to cater for 234 scholarships that are offered to girls in Malawi. The scholarships encourage girls to pursue their education which would otherwise be difficult for their families to fund.

Blood Sucking Rumours In Malawi

There have been widespread rumours on blood suckers circulating in Malawi, especially in the districts of Mulanje, Phalombe, Chiradzulu, Thyolo and lately Blantyre, where there have been alleged attacks on people by ‘Blood suckers.
In other extreme instances there has been loss of innocent lives and destruction of property.It is unfortunate that non-law abiding citizens have exploited the situation to advance their ill intentions such as theft and destruction of property.
