2017 Age Africa Tri For Malawi Celebration Reception

H.E Ambassador Edward Sawerengera, in collaboration with Advancing Girls Education Africa (AGE Africa), on Wednesday September 6th, 2017, hosted a reception at the Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in Washington D.C, in honour of Triathletes participating at a forthcoming AGE AFRICA Triathlon fundraiser that will take place on Sunday, September 10th, 2017. The proceeds will be used to fund the school needs for 220 under privileged girls in Malawi.

Blood Sucking Rumours In Malawi

There have been widespread rumours on blood suckers circulating in Malawi, especially in the districts of Mulanje, Phalombe, Chiradzulu, Thyolo and lately Blantyre, where there have been alleged attacks on people by ‘Blood suckers.
In other extreme instances there has been loss of innocent lives and destruction of property.It is unfortunate that non-law abiding citizens have exploited the situation to advance their ill intentions such as theft and destruction of property.

Lynchburg Remembers John Chilembwe

Earlier in August 2020, the Embassy received news of a successful endeavor approving a marker in the City of Lynchburg, the Commonwealth of Virginia to commemorate Malawi’s Baptist and politician Rev John Chilembwe. His Excellency Ambassador Edward Sawerengera attended the Unveiling Ceremony of the Marker, which was held on Saturday, November 14th, 2020 at the Virginia University of Lynchburg.

Age Africa 2018 Tri for Malawi

In 2009, the Tri for Malawi was created to honor the scholars’ efforts and benefit AGE Africa’s scholarship fund.

Now in its 10th year as AGE Africa’s largest annual fundraising event, the 2018 Tri for Malawi will take place will take place on Sunday, September 9th, 2018 as part of the Nation’s ESCAPE Triathlon in Washington, DC. Athletes will complete both the Sprint and Olympic distance triathlons and compete to raise $75,000.
