Mhura, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Malawi to the United Nations. Late Mhura passed on Monday, February 19th, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Jersey.

The Embassy of the Republic of Malawi in Washington, DC participated in the 6th Annual Winternational Embassy Showcase for the first time on 6th December, 2017 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. This important program is uniquely created for embassies to advance their public diplomacy (cultural, tourism, and trade) initiative. Over 3,000 guests showed up and 38 embassies exhibited and sold examples of their handcrafts, shared information on travel and tourism in their countries or presented educational displays of current mission initiatives.

Chichewa Tutor Required For A Student Ethnographic Researcher

The Embassy has received a request to assist in identification of a Chichewa tutor for an undergraduate student .

Michela Del Mastro is a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who is currently planning a year-long research project in Malawi for one year from July 2018 to July 2019. Michela will be in Washington DC from January to May 2018 and is looking for a Chichewa tutor who would be available for two to three times a week for the time she will be in Washington DC.

Blood Sucking Rumours In Malawi

There have been widespread rumours on blood suckers circulating in Malawi, especially in the districts of Mulanje, Phalombe, Chiradzulu, Thyolo and lately Blantyre, where there have been alleged attacks on people by ‘Blood suckers.
In other extreme instances there has been loss of innocent lives and destruction of property.It is unfortunate that non-law abiding citizens have exploited the situation to advance their ill intentions such as theft and destruction of property.

Notice of Issuing National Identification Cards in Malawi

The Embassy of the Republic of Malawi to the United States of America would like to inform all Malawians in the Diaspora, that the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security, through the National Registration Bureau (NRB) commenced mass registration of all Malawian Citizens aged 16 years and above for purposes of issuing National ID Cards in line with the Nation Registration Act of 2010. The mass registration started in June, 2017 and is expected to last up to December, 2017 in Malawi.
