Last summer I started hearing about Diversity and Inclusion, I started attending conferences, listening to webinars and interviews to find out more. I had the impression that when speaking of rights and duties not enough was said (not to say done) to represent all diversities in fashion and beauty  (sexual, physical, chromatic, religious, cultural, sentimental …). I thought about my customers, myself, friends who don’t enter certain stores because “for them / for us there is nothing”.

I thought that an image consultant could not feel complete if he/she cannot satisfy every need for self – enhancement.

In November 2019, following the national conference of the Rete al Femminile in Turin (an Italian association of women freelancers and entrepreneurs), I put together some inspirations and said to my Bolivian then trainee, Mariana, that it would have been nice to create a fashion and beauty blog that could become a reference point for all those who feel excluded from fashion and beauty.

Even Liliana and Andrew, also trainees then and collaborators now, embraced my idea and today I am excited to announce that DiversityStylingByVirgoImage is up and running, an independent VirgoImage project and international blog dedicated to Every Body (like my friend Alicia Searcy states): we will be talking about fashion, cosmetics, beauty, 3 typical fields that, as the American transgender actress and model Hari Nef said in this interview for the Business of Fashion,  have the power to tell us who is ok and who is not.

DiversityStylingByVirgoImage is open to everyone – the goal is not only to tell stories but to give concrete advice and information to feel better in one’s shoes, to accept oneself, enhance oneself without distorting and above all … find out where to buy or who to contact for specific needs .

I could never have done all this on my own and I am grateful to my adventure colleagues, to those who wanted to be interviewed for my Live on Instagram and to all those who decided to believe in the project even before it went online.

I tuoi consigli sono stati molto preziosi! Ti ringrazio per avermi fatto aprire gli occhi (oltre all’armadio..). Avevo tanti capi – alcuni diciamo anche un po’ datati e delle taglie sbagliate per me – lasciati lì in fondo al guardaroba. Avevo proprio bisogno di un occhio critico esterno e di un punto di vista esperto per individuare cosa effettivamente mi valorizzi e cosa invece sia da eliminare.

Mi è piaciuta molto la tua consulenza sul colore. Non avevo mai pensato che ci fossero dei colori più indicati di altri per mettere in risalto il viso e i lineamenti. In più, mi hai fatto comprendere meglio che tipo di fisico ho e quindi che abbigliamento/quali abbinamenti sono più adatti a me.

Sono sicura che d’ora in avanti sarò più orientata nelle scelte di acquisto (meno cose, più mirate). Incredibile pensare quanto si accumuli nel tempo: tante volte mi è capitato di fare shopping di istinto per poi rendermi conto che quel capo l’avrò indossato una volta o forse mai… Sono sicura che, grazie ai tuoi suggerimenti, eviterò di sprecare tempo e risparmierò comprando quello che veramente serve e che mi sta a pennello.

Prima di conoscerti pensavo che la consulenza di immagine fosse per pochi e un po’ da programma in tv: ora la consiglierei a tutti perché ci si focalizza davvero su di sè e sulle proprie reali esigenze.

Preciso che sono una di quelle che alla parola “consulente d’immagine” scappa a gambe levate, non perché non ne abbia bisogno (anzi…) ma perché non l’ho mai ritenuta “cosa per me”.

Lo stesso scetticismo l’ho avuto con Angela, lo confesso. Ma poi invece lei aveva qualcosa di diverso, perché propone un servizio che ha che fare con te, in cui al centro ci sei tu, non la moda del momento, non i canoni di bellezza che ci propone la pubblicità, niente di tutto questo. TU.

Come sei fatta, che colore della pelle hai, che lavoro fai, cosa vuoi esprimere. A me questo approccio mi ha colpito e ho voluto provare. E sono MOLTO soddisfatta. Dopo questa analisi, inoltre, viene la fase “apriamo gli armadi” e Angela che fa con te decluttering: questo sì, questo no, mmm questo quanti anni fa l’hai comprato?!? Insomma, io mi sono divertita parecchio, e adesso ho un bellllllissssimo taccuino con i miei colori che porto sempre con me (sai mai quando ti prende l’istinto dello shopping…!!!) e mi sento di consigliare vivamente Angela e il suo servizio a tutte (e tutti)!

Amando l’attività del personal shopping e della consulenza di immagine, tempo fa decisi finalmente di buttarmi a capofitto in questa nuova avventura e studiai parecchio per acquisire quante più conoscenze possibili su questo campo.

Frequentai diversi corsi, ma, come per tutte le cose, passare dalla teoria alla pratica non è semplice, in quanto ti mancano quelle competenze che solo vivendole sul momento ti aiutano realmente ad imparare qualcosa, così mi sono rivolta ad Angela per sfruttare al meglio tutte le occasioni possibili per inserirmi nel settore e posso dire finalmente di aver iniziato a raggiungere dei risultati!

I waited to communicate it, I was looking for the best way to let you know that beautiful things happen, as I have the great opportunity to collaborate with a fashion house born from the ambition of a forward-looking and talented woman like Milena Andrade.

She is Brazilian but has lived in Milan longer than me and has the perfect pair of jeans.

Yes, it is one of the most difficult garments to find on the market, despite the infinite choice!

So I launched myself into this challenge: to introduce the world to the line of jeans by MILENA ANDRADE -THE EMPOWERING DENIM.

For them I take care of the development of the business, making sure that every woman can find her perfect pair of jeans both from the collection (which among other things is very cool!) And made to measure.

There’s another thing – how do we women feel when our pair of jeans makes us look slimmer and with the right curves?

We feel UNBEATABLE! With SUPER-POWERS!

And what do we want to do when we feel UNBEATABLE? We want to do everything and find the strength to achieve our goals in both private and professional life.

So,  as a networking lover having participated in hundreds of them I thought … why don’t we meet all these women who love jeans and are unbeatable too?

From this idea the evenings for Women with Super Powers are born: 2 nights a year, during which women with super-powers meet, introduce themselves, exchange experiences and business cards, network and do business and know in preview also the new collection of jeans Milena Andrade!

So … you bring business cards and we bring bubbles and jeans!

We hope it will be a unique evening of its kind, I hope so on a personal level because I believe that from a common passion we can unleash incredible energy and from this energy endless ideas and incredible projects!
